Membership in Local 258 is voluntary and joining your colleagues is just the beginning of your journey with AFSCME. The real magic happens when you get involved—when you share your time, your ideas, and your talents to strengthen our union and community.
By law, every worker in the AFSCME bargaining unit may be represented by Local 258 in all matters related to the labor contract (and based on the merits of the issue). Every EGUSD permanent and probationary classified employee pays 1.52% of monthly pay to AFSCME Local 258.
Joining is as easy as 1, 2, 3
Step 1: Learn about AFSCME and Local 258 when you attend new hire orientation, hosted by EGUSD Human Resources.
Step 2: Complete your membership application.
Step 3: Attend a meeting or event.
You may also download/print the membership application and send your completed application via district mail to the Payroll Department for processing.
