The Officers, Executive Board members, and Stewards of AFSCME Local 258 are passionate advocates, tireless organizers, and committed allies for you, our members. Their hard work ensures that every voice is heard, every concern is addressed, and every member feels empowered to succeed.

What We Do

  • Provide leadership in Local 258 General Membership Meetings and Executive Board Meetings
  • Participate in the district’s new hire orientations to provide information and answer questions about AFSCME and how to join Local 258
  • Attend all EGUSD School Board Meetings, advocating and providing commentary on important issues relevant to our members
  • Network with members, listening to concerns and collaborating on potential solutions
  • Lead all aspects and stages of labor contract negotiations with the district office
  • Represent members in disciplinary actions, contract violations, complaint/grievance filings, and policy/procedure violations, to ensure they receive fair proceedings and due process
    Advocate for worker-friendly policies and elected officials at the local, state and national levels
  • Have a deep understanding of district policies and procedures
    Engage in ongoing education and training in the district, Council 57, and national/international conventions
  • Organize strategic initiatives and create member engagement pathways
  • Encourage professional development and training opportunities
    Celebrate our members success through appreciation events and incentives

Union Representative

The Union Representative for AFSCME Local 258 serves as a key advocate and partner to the Executive Board and Stewards. They are an integral part of the local’s operations, providing expertise, strategy, and a working knowledge of contract negotiations, policies and procedures, workplace issues, and are available to support members throughout their careers.
